The EIDQ Association plenary meeting in Dubrovnik unanimously approves change of  EIDQ association's mission


The 19th EIDQ Asscociation plenary meeting took place in Dubrovnik (28-30 April 2008), hosted by softmethod GmbH.

Strong interest was shown by the delegates in mobile search, the central theme of this plenary meeting. Around 90 delegates from around the globe attended the three day meeting and a range of speakers presented the latest developments and trends in mobile search.

The EIDQ also voted unanimously to modify its own mission statement. The new mission of the EIDQ Association is now, "to promote and support the directory information and related search industry in helping customers to find people, businesses, products and services".

"We needed a refinement of our mission & scope" said EIDQ chairperson Günther Baierl. "The EIDQ Association serves the members in a market that has undergone significant changes in recent years. Deregulation, the internet and increasing mobility have had a big impact on the traditional services provided by EIDQ members who have had to reconsider their future business strategies. The EIDQ members are now expanding beyond the Directory Information Industry and increasingly becoming key players in the overall search market."

The next plenary meeting will take place in Malta (20-22 October 2008) hosted by Call Genie Inc.
