Valencia Plenary Meeting
Press Release,
Valencia, 30 April 2009
The EIDQ Association Spring Plenary Meeting was held in Valencia, Spain on 27-29 April and was a great success.
Despite the current difficult financial climate, 70 participants attended and benefited from an agenda which focused on the Directory Assistance activities of the Members of the Association within the overall theme of “Winning Strategies”.
A mixture of speakers from EIDQ Members and external companies looked at all aspects of winning operational strategies including call centre efficiencies, people performance and outsourcing.
Members were presented with the results of several surveys concerning market information and data. The annual market survey was completed by 28 EIDQ Members and gave a fascinating insight into the directories market in 21 countries.
The latest EU Affairs were comprehensively covered by a representative from EADP and a regulatory panel session debated the latest issues including whether directory services should be included in the Universal Service Obligation and the question of opt-out for mobile numbers.
The two working groups presented reports on their progress since the Autumn 08 Plenary Meeting. The E.115v2 working group had continued their work supporting Members migrating to the E.115 2008 version and also preparing the specification of the new structure for the directory and functionality lists ready for ITU-T approval of the E.115 2009 version. The Business Strategy working group described its work which had concentrated on the market survey mentioned earlier and the organisation of the Valencia agenda. Both groups were given new mandates for the next period.
Two new Members were warmly welcomed, 1850 B.V. and Nuance Communications, Inc.
The Valencia Plenary Meeting was very kindly supported by sponsorship from Opplysningen 1881, LSSi Europe Ltd., Telos Networks and Softmethod GmbH.
The participants were treated to a paella evening in the famous beachside La Pepica restaurant where it was announced that the next Plenary Meeting will be in Brand, Austria on 26-28 October 2009, kindly sponsored by Swisscom and Volt Delta International.
