Google is continuing to gain points on the mapping front, today launching yet more features for the product at a time when Apple’s offering continues to appear weak by comparison. Today it announced that it has given Street View, which lets users see photographic images of particular locations, its biggest update yet, covering 250,000 miles of roads across more than 17 countries.

Forrester: 66% Of Employees Use 2 Or More Devices At Work, 12% Use Tablets

Another dispatch from the post-PC era: Forrester’s latest report on mobile adoption in the enterprise found that 66% of employees now use two or more devices every day, including desktops, laptops, smartphones and tablets. A smaller, but notable 12% percent said they now use tablets at work. That’s still far fewer than the 50% who report only using a desktop, or the 82% who use a desktop alone or alongside other devices.

Twitter Launches User Directory

In a world where altruistic social gathering doesn’t pay the bills, Twitter continues to make changes that they hope will drive more traffic directly to the Twitter domain and bolster their value to advertisers.  The most recent update comes in the form of an alphabetical user directory.  The link to the directory was quietly added to the the default home page for visitors to Twitter not already logged into the service.

Telefonica targets retailers with street smart data

Telefonica is setting up a business to sell data it collects from millions of its mobile phone customers to retailers which could provide the company with a new source of income.
The Spanish telecoms group, owner of the O2 brand in Britain, Germany and other European markets, has created Telefonica Dynamic Insights to interpret, analyze and sell anonymous data from its phone subscribers.

When small businesses need to make investments in IT or other operations, it’s often the companies selling them the goods that help with financing solutions. Now it looks like Google is using that model to help drive more dollars to AdWords search advertising. Google says that from Monday it is launching a new service in the UK, AdWords Business Credit, which offers credit to companies specifically in the SMB sector to boost their online ad spend with the company.
