Google today launched version 6.7 of its ubiquitous Google Maps application for the Android platform. Version 6.7 adds the ability to find special offers from local businesses and also adds indoor walking directions - including 360-degree view indoor photos.

Telefonica unveils data-based communication app Tu Me

Telefonica is launching an app that allows smartphone users to make calls and send messages without using up their quota of call minutes or texts.
Actions taken by "Tu Me" will instead be deducted from data allowances.
It poses a challenge to existing apps including Skype, Viber and Whatsapp.

Yellow Pages publisher stock falls after $2.9- billion loss (Canada)

Yellow Media stock plunged 35 per cent Tuesday, a day after the publisher of the Yellow Pages directory reported a first-quarter loss of $2.9 billion and wrote down the value of its assets.
Yellow Media also cancelled its annual meeting planned for Montreal on Tuesday after it said the number of shareholder votes received would not be enough to reach quorum.

Shopping spree continues with acquisition of 'social discovery' app maker.
Mere weeks from a multi-billion-dollar debut on the stock market, Facebook has ramped up its focus on mobile lifestyles with the purchase of "social discovery" startup Glancee.
Glancee founders behind the smartphone application for finding like-minded people nearby joined the Facebook team in what was seen as a talent grab by the Menlo Park, California-based social network.

AT&T wants to end mandatory white pages

In the era of mobile telephones, AT&T Inc. is trying to rid itself of a long-standing tradition in Louisiana: the familiar white pages of residential phone listings dropped on front porches and driveways.
The staff of the Louisiana Public Service Commission has recommended a plan under which white pages would be sent only to customers who specifically request the directory. AT&T customers also could request a CD-ROM of home listings for computer use.
