Google is facing enforcement action — and possibly fines — in six European Union member states after it failed to make changes to its privacy policy following requests by European data protection regulators. The six countries that have today launched data protection investigations into Google's unified privacy policy are France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and the U.K.

Yext and YP announced today that they have teamed up to help enterprise businesses reach and engage local consumers, and manage their presence across the web. As a part of the agreement, YP, North America's largest local search, advertising and media company, now offers Yext's PowerListings product to enterprise customers, complementing its suite of digital advertising solutions. Yext PowerListings allow businesses to own and publish their location information on the PowerListing Network of publishers.

Google Shopping Visibility Plunges In “Universal Search” Results; Video Stays Dominant

In-App Purchase Revenue Hits Record High: Accounts For 76% Of U.S. iPhone App Revenue, 90% In Asian Markets

Though it's well-known that many of today's mobile applications generate revenue through in-app purchases, a new report released today shows how powerful this money-making mechanism has become. In January 2012, just over half (53 percent) of iPhone App Store revenue in the U.S. was attributed to in-app purchases, but as of last month, that number has climbed to a record 76 percent.

Global IT Spend Will Rise 4.1% To $3.8 Trillion In 2013, ‘A Calm Ocean With Turbulent Currents’, With Mobile Driving Growth

Gartner has just released its annual projections on worldwide IT spend over the next two years — arguably the analyst house's most wide-ranging report covering sales in hardware, software, enterprise and telecoms. The overall trends continue to point up: globally we will see $3.8 trillion spent across all categories, a rise of 4.1% on 2012. That's a sign of slight recovery on a year ago: growth in 2012 was only 2.1%.
