Local publisher and ad network YP (the private-equity owned combination of AT&T Interactive and AT&T Advertising Solutions) has released its US-focused Q2 “Local Insights Report.” The data in the report are derived from searches conducted across the company’s multi-platform network: “563 million searches and nearly 11 billion impressions in Q1 2012 across the YP Local Ad Network’s 300+ online, mobile, IPTV and directory assistance publishers.”

Yelp rises on reports of integration with Apple maps

Shares of Yelp Inc jumped 12 percent on Thursday following media reports that Apple Inc (AAPL.O) is planning to integrate the customer reviews website's services into the new maps application in the latest version of its operating system.

Facebook, Google, Microsoft and RIM sign up to Telefonica mobile billing partnership

European mobile giant Telefonica is set to make it easier for its customers to purchase digital items and subscribe to services using their mobile devices following a new deal with Facebook, Google, Microsoft and RIM.
Leveraging its “global framework agreements” with each of the four tech giants, Telefonica hopes to drive paid downloads and sales of digital goods and services and has already begun rolling out the necessary platforms in Europe, with plans to offer mobile billing services in 14 of its businesses worldwide by the end of the year.

Three-day industry event to be held in London from 29 – 31 October 2012
The Global Daily Deal Association (GDDA), the trade organisation for the daily deal sector, has confirmed details of the first Global Daily Deal Expo.
The industry conference and trade show will be held on 29, 30 and 31 October at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London.
The first day will be dedicated to GDDA members who will have the opportunity to discuss the development of the trade association and the recently launched Code of Conduct.

Amazon Gets into Maps and Directories Via UpNext

Amazon has reportedly purchased UpNext, the five year old, 3D mapping and directory service that now provides “clickable building”-oriented maps for over 50 cities, including 23 that are enhanced in depth. The service has experimented with a number of features, including transportation guides, events, happy hour deals etc. While the purchase price hasn’t been reported, UpNext raised $500,000 in 2011.
